How Our Journey Started
It started with tweeting contact numbers for Diaspora organisation contacts in Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and Romania as we realised that amidst the crisis people needed someone to call on ground.
This quickly expanded to supporting Africans who called the same numbers to ask for support.
We created social media support groups where we were able to coordinate both online and on ground activities to provide emergency support, help people evacuate, provide transportation, accommodation, feeding and groceries.
We connected people to volunteers, organisations and embassies staffs especially for immigration.
We grew to having teams on ground providing not only transportation, accommodation, feeding, but all round support to Africans fleeing Ukraine and so far many of our activities has been from since a small fund raising and private funds.
Currently we have hostels rented for months, apartments and hotel spaces which we are using to house people.
This fund raiser is to scale all our on ground efforts to provide more accommodation and feeding as well as a well rounded humanitarian support to all African evacuees this include creation of information hub for next steps, education options, resettlement opportunities, immigration signposting, respite, mental & physical health support.
